The story in one page
The Chevalier des Grieux falls for Manon Lescaut the moment he spots her at an inn, a meeting that immediately derails his promising ecclesiastical career. Their life becomes a frantic, repetitive carousel of sudden wealth and crushing debt. Manon cannot resist the lure of comfortable living, while des Grieux cannot stop trying to bankroll her desires through increasingly reckless schemes. Their frantic pursuit of luxury keeps landing them in prison or exile, eventually resulting in their deportation to New Orleans.
