The story in one page
Professor Liedenbrock discovers a cryptic parchment indicating a route to the center of the Earth via an Icelandic volcano. Dragging his skeptical nephew Axel along, they hire a taciturn guide named Hans. The group descends into the crust, encountering prehistoric landscapes, giant mushrooms, and an underground sea teeming with extinct marine reptiles. After surviving storms, dehydration, and battles between monsters, a volcanic eruption launches them back to the surface in Italy. Liedenbrock attains international fame, and the family reunites in Hamburg, finally realizing that a lightning strike during their journey had merely confused their navigation equipment.
